MCP Training
Take the lead and learn how to adopt Generative AI with MCP, the new protocol that allows you to connect your tools like your email, task management software, and website to Generative AI chat applications and streamline your work processes. For example, with this you could:
- Manage and move tasks or assign them to team members
- Command and change your emails directly within a chat using ChatGPT, Claude, or your model of choice
- Add comments using your voice and automatically format and add them to tasks
- Reply to emails quickly, send drafts, reply to threads, or summarize key points all within a chat
- Get context from other tools and services all in one place
If you feel like you’re falling behind because you’re too busy doing the work to actually learn how to make Generative AI work for you, then this is the training workshop for you. I’ve dedicated a lot of my time to suffering through setup and other failures in using Generative AI tools all the way from the early days back on GPT 3.5. I’m amazed at what’s happened and it’s really exciting to see the potential. But a lot of the best features are still not in reach of non-technical users.
I believe that non-technical users can get over this with a small bit of training and anyone can be able to use these tools now. You could wait till they hit the mainstream or you could start to use them now and get the edge. At worst, you’ll have a better understanding of how Generative AI works without spending hours sifting through docs or struggling through tutorials. At best, you’ll streamline your work processes, achieve more and to a higher standard by making Generative AI work for you within the tools you actually use day to day.
Course Overview
Introduction to the state of generative AI – This is always changing, so this will be kept up to date. We’ll explore the big players, current models, and practical workplace applications.
Quick 101 on prompting – Not a full in-depth prompt design course, but we’ll frame why prompt engineering is valuable and explain why investing time in defining good prompts will get you better results.
Recent features in chat applications – Common features within chat applications that I recommend for your work.
Projects, knowledge, memory, and prompt libraries – Exploring these foundational elements.
MCP: The main focus – MCP will allow you to connect your tools to chat applications. We’ll go through the technical setup process step by step. This requires a Mac device with some prerequisites, but it’s possible to skip this stage if you simply want to watch.
Setting up and configuring MCP tools – We’ll download a chat application, show you how to configure the MCP tools, and help with the setup that a developer would normally do.
The MCP ecosystem – Practical examples using popular tools like Gmail, Notion, Asana, Perplexity Search, Web Searching, and Calendar Events. I’ll introduce you to the ecosystem and give tips on evaluating which tools to use and add.
