If you’re looking to encourage customers to buy in bulk, offering volume discounts is a great strategy. Shopify makes this easy with its volume pricing feature. Here’s a simple guide on how to set it up.
Accessing the catalogs section
First, you’ll need to get to the right place in your Shopify admin:
- Log in to your Shopify admin panel
- Go to ‘Products’, then click on ‘Catalogs’
Once you’re in the Catalogs section, find and click on the catalog you want to edit. This is where you’ll make changes to your product pricing.
In the Products and pricing section, click on ‘Manage’, then ‘Manage products and pricing’. This will take you to where you can set up your volume discounts.
Setting up volume pricing
Now, here’s how to actually set up your volume discounts:
- Find the product you want to edit
- Hover over it with your mouse
- In the Volume pricing column, click ‘+ Add’
- Fill in the Quantity and Price fields for your first price break
- If you want to add more price breaks, click ‘Add break’ and fill in the details for each
Your price break quantities need to be greater than your minimum order quantity and a multiple of any increment you’ve set in your quantity rules.
If you want to set different volume pricing for specific variants of a product, click the link to the variants under the product name, then follow the same steps.
A few things to keep in mind
It’s worth noting that this volume pricing feature is still in early access, so it might not be available for all Shopify stores just yet. Also, if you’re using B2B discounts or B2B scripts, you won’t be able to use this feature.
